The Maison Fortune Orphanage Foundation (MFOF) supports the Maison Fortune Orphanage (MFO) and Primary School located in Hinche, Haiti. Together our shared goal is to raise awareness and funds to make sure the children in our care are empowered to become the future leaders of Haiti.
Starting with four children in a one-room house at the turn of the millennium, we are now two campuses serving over 60 girls and 150 boys. When you count the surrounding neighborhood children who attend the our primary school, we are helping to educate over 300 children in Hinche, Haiti.
In addition to education, every day our all-Haitian staff serves over 700 meals and washes countless loads of laundry– all with love and care. Our children are identified as having little to no opportunity for education and often are from single parent homes with no resources. Some are sent to us from the streets and at times removed from situations where they are being “sold” as property. When a child is referred to us we work with the Haitian Social Welfare agency to make sure MFO is the best option to meet their needs. When they are accepted to our family, MFO becomes their legal guardian. Once part of our family each child attends school and many also participate in sports, scouts, and other extra curricula activities.
